Thursday, May 6

I am hoping that I will like the block above and below in my quilt - the person who did the quilt along had a couple blocks in hers that were all color and I thought they might be fun in mine too. (I guess if I don't like them in the quilt, they will be put to good use somewhere else)...

Hello All!!!
Hope all is well out there.... Things have been crazy here with Dustin traveling again this week (back to England). By the time I can post in the evening, my eyes are all fuzzy, so no posts really this week. (and in the morning, I have been working on my pinwheel quilt - only 4 more blocks until 30 (and two of those are almost done), and then on to my pinwheels for the sashing...).
The weather has been dreary and rainy all week (although we did make it out for a walk with Justice yesterday and the day before (Brenna napped during our walk, so I extended it - made Justice happy). Today has been the worst rainy day so far - pouring rain all day - I even let Brenna ride to and from school which isn't our normal (she normally walks home).
Well, since I would need to put my glasses on to make this post longer, I am going to stop typing here (sorry!)
Take Care!

Sunday, May 2

Brenna's newest quilt below (maybe I will get something actually finished of the 3 quilts I am currently sewing soon, so that she can actually have one to use). I bought a new embroidery font for the name - I think it turned out pretty cute (although my spacing isn't perfect - but I still like how it turned out)I tried to get Brenna to lay under her new quilt, but she wasn't interested - maybe once it is finished she will jump in a picture for me...

So, I have been very busy this weekend with my pinwheel quilt along. I am going to make 30 blocks rather than just the 16 we were given instructions for, so it is taking me a little longer to get this done (plus, I still plan to make the small pinwheels for the sashing, so it will still be a few weeks before this quilt is done...) - I might need to switch to my other quilts before Dustin's trip to the US at the end of the month as I want to send my completed quilt tops back with him... (hope you don't get bored by my craft pictures today, but I think the squares are pretty - hope you enjoy seeing them)

Hello All!!

Where did April go? It passed us by so quickly here with all of our travels and Dustin's busy work schedule. I have been keeping busy with any free time getting my quilts together. I am really happy with my progress on the pinwheel quilt along - I have 23 blocks done (of the 30 that I am planning to do - and almost have 2 more that are done so I will be at 25 in no time). I also used one of my new charm packs that I purchased to make a fun animal quilt for Brenna - I am just going to back it with flannel for the summer (and no batting) so she will be able to use it shortly (especially for the hot weather that is bound to be coming soon).
The weather here has been very overcast and rainy this weekend - so lots of indoor time this weekend (luckily Brenna and Dustin have been having fun together). We did play cards and bingo together as a family today too, so that was very nice for all of us. Dustin and Brenna even cleaned the garage together today :-)
Well, not to much else going on here (or maybe I just missed it all while I was sitting at the sewing machine, lol)!
Take Care!

Wednesday, April 21

so, I'm starting off today showing off my quilting that I have been working on lately :-) (although I do have to say I am wishing I could get another of these quilts finished soon - it makes me feel so much better to have some of these items finished :-)

The square below is for Brenna's I love you quilt - can't wait to see it finished - I think it will be adorable :-)
So, not many votes cast, but the winner was the apple in the middle :-) (that was my vote too as I knew I was going to be doing some other red ones in the quilt soon)
another of my blocks for the pinwheel quilt along (this is one of my extras)
I love these little owls - wish I had more of this fabric (then again, I always want more fabric...)
I love the blue and red together below - I wasn't sure when I cut them out, but all put together, I love it :-)
So, now for our walk this afternoon :-) I just had to get a picture finally of the "chicken truck" - I think Brenna can spot it from a mile away (and yes, that was our dinner today, lol) (most of the pictures were taken by Brenna while she was sitting in the stroller - but she was asleep when we passed the "chicken truck" (so that was by me) and the one picture of her today)

(above, we were on a hunt for flowers today, but I was impressed by her fun sidewalk pictures and feet pictures)

Thursday, April 15

I'm trying to decide on the apple and red fabric which way I want to lay it out - I think I might do the apples this time - any thoughts?? (I think I like the apples in the middle, they are more obvious that way, they seem to just blend in when the red is in the center) (you can vote on the sidebar of my blog :-) - sorry, I have no patience, so the poll is only open until Saturday, lol)

My other two blocks I made today :-) (the pink one is inspired by a person on the flickr group - they have some great ideas on pinwheels there :-)
yesterday, I sewed a ton of half-square triangles (hst) - I think I sewed about 50 of them (at least it goes quick once you have everything set up and ready to go). Now, I just need to iron and trim some more (notice the large stack of pink ones - those are for Brenna's quilt ;-)

Hello All!!!

Hope all is well out there! Things are good here - Dustin is very busy with work (so not much time for posting this week).
Brenna mentioned yesterday that I needed to post how foggy it was in the morning (Her words "Mom, you need to type on the computer that it is foggy"), but it seems like the weather is going to be nicer for the weekend. (can I just say how glad that I am that Dustin wasn't in England today and the customer's are here - all flights to England are grounded until the ash cloud clears out from Iceland (I almost feel bad for the guys from England who are leaving tonight to drive the 8 hours home, but at least they can drive and take the ferry home)). (I have learned so much more of my European geography since living here :-)

We have been running late in the mornings around here, hopefully Brenna will get back on her schedule soon, but our late night out tonight didn't help (we went to dinner with one of Dustin's customer's from Brazil - very nice and he was great with kids :-) (added bonus - I didn't have to worry about supper here ;-)
I completed some sewing today :-) I am so glad to be able to have days where I can use my creativity, but I am so tired after all my going all day, lol! (seriously, I will probably be asleep before 9:30 here - boy am I pathetic!)
Well, that is about it for today! Take Care!!

Friday, March 26

My latest quilting - I am so glad that I decided to do the quilt along with my mom and sister :-) I look forward to not only seeing my blocks, but the ones that my mom and sister do as well (by the way ladies - your blocks are looking great!). I love the color on these blocks - the pink fabrics is one of my favorites, but I only have a small amount left...

Brenna decided to help with me laying out my blocks. She wasn't sleeping here, just "play" sleeping (isn't she a good little actress). I layed out a piece of cream colored fabric and then proceeded to layout my quilts on the bed. (I actually started with the I Love you quilt in getting it layed out - in one of my many shots that I took, I could see Brenna trying to get her little toes underneath everything). So, here are all the blocks I have completed for the pinwheel quilt along - loving them :-)
Justice had to come in and check out what we were doing (sorry that you have to see my messy bedroom - when you always have clothes hanging up to dry, it always seems to look a little messier...)

Brenna with the crazy log cabin quilt (this one will be hers - I love all the bright colors :0)

This was before all the strips were sewn together - I sewed them together today - it looks so cute!
lol - Brenna looks like she is just waking up here to me, what a little actress. (I did decide based on the pictures, to move the lightest strip of I Love you to the middle instead of the bottom as it was here in the pictures).
before Brenna decided to join in :-)
Hello All!!
Hope all is well out there. We had a rainy, dreary day here in Germany today :-( Actually, the morning started off fairly sunny - I did take Justice out for a nice walk this morning and then Brenna went off to school (I should have expected that it would be pouring by the time I needed to pick her up as we went off without her rain coat this morning)... About 15 minutes before I planned on taking Justice out, the sky was very dark and then it poured - yuck, I decided the dog didn't really need his noon potty break today (mean doggy mom...). I hoped that after 20 minutes of pouring down rain, it would lighten up and I could go get Brenna without getting soaked - hmmm - no luck there - we had to do complete outfit changes when we got home (I did take umbrellas with me, but about half way home, Brenna said the heck with the umbrella, lets run - that lasted about 3 minutes and then I was a mean mommy trying to pull my daughter along home in the rain without our umbrellas - sigh) (Brenna even commented to me that I wasn't being very nice - hmm, guess I was a little short tempered as I just kept saying hurry up, hurry up...hopefully, she felt that I was nicer this afternoon - at least she didn't tell me that I was being mean again).

While Brenna was at school today, I worked on more of my quilting (I know I should have cleaned, but I am a total quilting addict right now - plus, I didn't feel like cleaning today). I got my three I love you blocks sewed together for Brenna's quilt - I think she is really going to like that one - I am making that one to match her room when we move back to the US (there will be curtains to match the quilt :-)
They posted at school today that they have had their first case of hand, foot, and mouth disease - yuck (it really makes me think about keeping Brenna home next week from school since we have our Ireland trip scheduled and then she is already off school for Spring Break the week after - but they are also having a field trip next week and the Easter Bunny is coming - I think I am just going to have to cross my fingers that she keeps washing her hands well at school and doesn't get it...)
Brenna and I did play her Nemo memory game today (actually played this time, most of the time she just likes to put the cards in the cardboard punch-outs that came with the game) - she was very excited when either of us made matches.
Well, I think that covers most of our highlights - we didn't make it out to take any more pictures today since it rained during our afternoon walk - Brenna was pretty bummed not to take the camera along - wonder how many days of pictures we will have this spring and summer - I think I may let her take as many pictures as she wants as I think it will be fun to have her pictures for her someday (and hey, they are digital - so other than computer space, they are "free").
Take Care!
